President Biden Puts Country Over Self– He Passes the Torch to Kamala Harris July 21, 2024
Democrats and their leaders, unlike GOPers who blindly live in their unpunctured Trump bubble, understand the real world and the stakes that are involved. When President Biden horribly showed his age (81) in the June 27, 2024 debate against Demagogue Donald, the leaders of his party, as well as the grass roots, realized that it was time for him to pass the torch to a new younger generation and openly said so. Just over three weeks from this debate, President Biden, on July 21, 2024, stated he would not run for re-election in Campaign 2024. Biden, unlike doddering 78-year old narcissistic Trump, put country over party and self. Biden understands that the only way to beat Demagogue Donald, an existential threat to our democracy, is to pass the torch to his VP Kamala Harris (59). By not running again, Biden gives the Democrats a chance to take back the House (4 seats needed) from the reactionary GOP and to expand our Senate numbers. Had he remained in office, he would have horribly depressed “Team Blue” turnout, and this time, there would have been a “y uu ge” “Red” tide in both chambers in addition to installing this “Dictator on Day One and every other day” in the Oval Office. Biden correctly listened to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s analysis of what would occur should he have run again (cnn.com). Biden now will go down in history as one of the best Presidents (rated at least #14 by historians) for the legislation he passed that enacted jobs, added gun control legislation, and helped the average American. Again, history will see Biden as one who thought more about his country than himself, someone who did his darndest to save American democracy. Most Democrats are now happy with his decision. Now, let’s all finish the job. How? By showing our enthusiasm by voting in droves plus for VP Kamala Harris and the running mate she will pick before the August 19, 2024 Chicago Democratic Convention. The fate of America is at stake. Let’s make that torch for American democracy continue to burn brightly in the 21st Century. I will discuss more about Biden’s courageous decision in future blog posts.
